The Vision
The homeowners in Broad Ripple were ready to reimagine their unfinished basement into a bright, functional extension of their home—with a special focus on creating a dedicated space for their children to play and read. Their vision included clean lines, plenty of storage, and a unique design element that blended playfulness with modern style. They wanted a kids playroom, custom shelving, and finishes that matched their industrial-modern aesthetic.
The Solution
To bring the vision to life, we started by breaking out and replacing the existing basement floor to ensure a solid foundation for the transformation. The new design featured a crisp white color palette accented with bold black trim, giving the space a fresh, modern look while keeping it kid-friendly.
We constructed custom shelving throughout the space, including a standout piece next to the window: built-in stair-step shelves that double as a reading nook—perfect for little ones to curl up with a book and enjoy natural light. To stay true to the industrial-modern feel, we incorporated metal railings that offered both safety and a stylish edge to the finished design.
The end result was a basement that checks all the boxes—play space, smart storage, modern design, and long-term durability.
