The Vision
Our client reached out looking to maximize their 1,500-square-foot basement. With a family of three, they wanted a space that could be both functional and fun—complete with a dedicated workout room and a golf simulator. Their home, about 9–10 years old, already had under-slab plumbing in place for a full bathroom and sink/bar area, which provided the perfect foundation for a customized design. The family envisioned a finished basement that could serve as an extension of their lifestyle while still keeping space set aside for mechanicals and storage.
The Solution
We developed a plan to finish roughly 900 square feet of the basement while leaving about 600 square feet for utility and storage. Our team expanded the under-stair closet and collaborated with the homeowners to design a custom kitchenette with bar-top seating, a drink fridge, and a dishwasher. A full bathroom with a tile shower was added to boost both convenience and value.
To create the ultimate entertainment and workout environment, we over-wired the basement with low-voltage cabling and a Sonos speaker system for music and the golf simulator setup. Heavy-duty rubber flooring was installed in the workout room for durability, while custom shiplap paneling and a hidden Murphy door added charm and functionality. The finishing touches included large vinyl plank flooring throughout and a custom cedar-wrapped beam above an area designed to hold a future salt shuffleboard table.
